Bow Satchel

These pretty photos from Cherry Blossom Girl make me really miss my Miu Miu Bow Satchel. Mine was in the unavailable "alluminio"/gray color and so pretty (but also so fragile). I was able to get $200 more than retail after a year of using it though, so off it went to a lucky gal in Australia.

Anxious

I'm anxiously waiting for consistent 75 degree temperatures and clear blue skies. Today is overcast and not so cold, but definitely not summer weather. RKells (this will be my boyfriend's new nickname on here since it's the same one I use amongst most family and friends) says I'm spoiled by the weather here. I tell him I just like nice weather because who doesn't?

Usually I get that summer feeling around the 4th of July. I guess I've spent the past few summers having barbeques in Malibu beach houses - typical summertime symbols that rarely fail in casting that summer feeling. The 4th is this weekend and RKells and I hastily planned an impromptu trip to Santa Barbara for the holiday. We're not even going to be there the entire weekend because we don't want to spend much, but it should be a nice escape from smoggy Los Angeles. I decided to take more pictures because he and I really don't have many together.

It's times like this that I miss being in school pre-sixteen age (since I worked every summer after). I didn't really like school, but no one can deny the greatness of those responsibility-free summer months.

Even though I'm constantly working through most summer days now, I'd like the sun to shine a little more for my weekends, especially this weekend of the 4th!

Cherie

I don't particularly know why you need a whole table to do your makeup and why a simple mirror wouldn't suffice, but I really want this Cherie Dressing Table based purely on looks. I picture it in my imaginary future bedroom.

Lorissa

I missed out on the Louise Goldin for Topshop shoes, but luckily Sam Edelman has come out with THESE. Even though they aren't as violent and dangerous looking as the Louise Goldin styles, no one would dare mess with me.

I need them now.

Sometimes I go out

I'm not your typical LA girl, hitting clubs every weekend (I'm sort of grandma) in Herve Leger type dresses, but every once in a while I do partake in some boogie accompanied by a little drank.

Just a couple photos from this weekend (thanks to Lacey).

Loafer Lust

I love these Prada Loafer Platforms. How perfect would they be for fall with knit tights, knee and otk highs, ankle socks, and even now with bare legs?

Available for preorder now from Saks.

Cat eye glasses are back, and I'm so happy. It's something about the retro flirty shape of these frames that instantly appeals to my style.

My first pair of sunglasses were a pair of cat-eye Arnette Mantis (all the rage in high school). I bought two pairs in my teen years, and gave them up when larger rounder frames came around. Then I came across these Luella pair, that I SO regret not purchasing. They even went on sale, and I missed it!

But while perusing Net-a-Porter just now, I found these Linda Farrow Luxe pair (above) that almost equally tickle my fancy, but are about triple in price ($640). While I love sunglasses and live in the land of sunshine, I can't justify spending $600 on a pair, so the search for the perfect pair continues...

My kind of diet

If only this type of diet were really possible. If it was, I'd be a drunk little hippo with chunky dimply thighs.

Flawless

Is Abbey Lee.

P.S. When did she drop the "Kershaw" part of her name?

Je Suis Perdu

Last night I was flipping through the camera I took on my Euro adventure last fall, and it made me miss it badly. I showed boyfriend a picture of him in some Paris market and pictures of our first night in Paris and it made him realize how much he missed it as well.

Here are some pictures I may have already posted but don't care because I need to reminisce to last September. These are only of Paris. I have much more of Paris than of London because by the time we got to London we were pooped!

Sample Sale Scores

I scored big time last Friday at the Geren Ford sample sale with this Ruffle Leather Jacket. Normally $863. I got it for $100. I got to it on its last day, just an hour before it ended. It was near work so I decided to pop in before heading home. I also got a pair of $1 shorts (one dollar, you read that right) and a blue silk blouse for $25.

My problem now is that I can't have two leather jackets. Well I could, but I really can't. So the question is, which goes? The Mike & Chris or the Geren Ford? The Mike & Chris one has softer leather and I think is more versatile, but the Geren Ford one is more unique and cutesier.

Also picked up some basics at the James Perse sale on Sunday. Just some basic tees ($5!) and basic tanks.

I don't often go to sample sales anymore because of my availability (work usually gets in the way), but when I do, it never makes me want to buy full price again. If I can get a jacket and tees for nearly 90% off, why would I ever want to pay retail? I just wish these sample sales would happen more often and on both weekend days.

Summer Anticipation

"I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes."
- E.E. Cummings

My cold dead heart is excited for summer. It's not even my favorite season (fall all the way), but for some reason I'm inkling for some sand, ocean, and sun-induced vitamin D.

Every Saturday on my way to boyfriend's place, I take Sunset through Beverly Hills and West Hollywood to my destination on the cusp of WeHo and Hollywood. This boyfriend trip usually occurs around sunset, my favorite time of day. As much as I sometimes enjoy gloomier weather, I must admit that the trip is much nicer when there's sunshine and clear skies.

As you can see, I love taking pictures of tall skinny palm trees. I had to stick my phone out the window like some tourist to get the photo above by the Beverly Hills hotel.

I think it's these iconic beachy trees that get me all excited for the upcoming season. I can't wait to whip out the several pairs of shorts I've never worn, the floppy hats, and products for perfectly tousled beach hair!

I leave you with my summer anthem - Summertime by The Sundays. I love Harriet Wheeler's 70s-Audrey-Hepburn style in this video.

California Girls

California girls we're unforgettable, daisy dukes bikinis on top
... wait.

So Katy Perry has a new song out called "California Girls". I'm sure you've heard it, they play it all over top 40 stations like KIIS, and they will most definitely be playing it all summer until you can't stand it. But I have some problems with it. The song itself, the sounds, the melody, the beat - whatever, is pretty catchy. It's the lyrics I have an issue with.

Even though I'm a California girl, a Southern California girl even, I find the lyrics "daisy dukes, bikinis on top" unfortunate. Although I think Katy (or whoever writes her music) obviously meant for it to be a happy, positive song for summer, I feel the imagery given off by its lyrics is a negative one of "California girls". Daisy dukes? Bikinis on top? Maybe for Pam Anderson or Britney Spears circa the time before-she-got-really-crazy-but-still-had-bad-fashion-taste. Isn't that a little too hooch? She could have easily incorporated a more fashionable California girl's style into the song. Maybe some jersey or eyelet type dresses and sunglasses? She could have also even thrown in some labels often seen on girls here - C&C California, Michael Stars, Rachel Pally, you know, all the tshirt brands.

Later in the song, Katy also sings that California girls "don't mind sand in our stilettos". I definitely mind sand in my stilettos! But firstly, I would most likely not be wearing spike heels to an event that involved sand (a flat sandal, wedge will do), but who likes sand in your shoe? It's so uncomfortable and your feet feel dirty! Katy is from California herself, so does she find this California girl style appealing? Or did it just sound better with the rest of the song?

I know it's a catchy song and even features Snoop Dogg, but I think us "California girls" have better style and taste than shorts with buttcheek peeking from the bottom and dirty sandy feet. Sorry Katy.

It started with a dedication lost in admiration - happy birthday! I'm forever yours.

Happy birthday to me from boyfriend.

Such pretty hair...

One day, I will let my hair down again. I've gotten into this horrible habit of throwing it messily up on top of my head. I have these ideas where I feel my hair is too heavy, too thick, too overwhelming for my small face. I will get over it.

Photos like these from the French editions of Vogue and Elle inspire me to set it free.

Cannes Favorites

Just a couple that immediately caught my eye.

Marchesa. If you know my tastes, Kate Beckinsale's pale blue fluffy ethereal number should come as a predictable choice.

Michelle Williams in Suno. Honestly, I've never heard of the designer, but I love the sweet mod look and will die for the Stella McCartney wedges.

Perfect

Perfect weather this Memorial Day in the City of Angels. I'm not the biggest fan of the city -- I think I'm a little too cynical for such a sunny place, but visions of tall palm trees against blue skied Hollywood Hills backdrops always injects my dead soul with a little life.
