I know the cupcake trend has been around for at least five years, and several have said that the donut or the whoopie pie (both delicious) is the "new" cupcake. Well, as stated before, I don't care for trends. I love the taste and diminutive size of the cupcake and that's all that matters.

NOW, I also know that Sprinkles is the much hyped go-to cupcake cupcakery in Los Angeles, but my opinion deviates from the general consensus. Susiecakes is my all-time favorite. MUCH better than Sprinkles with lighter, fluffier cake, and a yummy soft buttercream frosting for $3. About $.25 or $.50 (not sure) cheaper than a massive Sprinkles cupcake. Aside from cupcakes, Susiecakes also makes the trendy whoopie pie, puddings, cookies, brownies, etc. Their claim to fame is their "All American, Homestyle Bakery". They aren't pretentious and they don't have lines out their doors, but that doesn't mean they aren't delicious. I normally venture over to the Brentwood location, but I know they have locations in Calabasas, Manhattan Beach, and others. I love the vanilla (as boring as it may seem) and mint chocolate flavors, but I've also heard their Red Velvet (a flavor I feel is highly overrated) and peanut butter are also scrumptious. Highly recommended!

It's fatty because hey, it's a bakery. But it's worth it to be a little chunky for some of that yummy buttercream frosting!

Striped sailor/Parisienne tops everywhere! I have two, but it does lessen my love when I see them on every other gal.

On the hunt for the perfect pair of khaki/camel trousers. Possibly cuffed, full length - both? Just got a pair of olive shorts. Love the army color palette.

In addition to the stripes, the ruffled sleeve top is also everywhere! I love it, but not when I see it sold in every store I walk into.

Looking for the perfect cape with armholes. Camel colored, preferably, but open to other colors. The right size! The vintage styles all are ginormous.

I wish

I wish I had a reason to wear a gown like this lovely Alberta Ferretti one from her fall collection. Or actually, a reason to wear any gown. What event in a normal, 9-to-5 working, non-celebutante type of girl's life allows or requires a gown after the prom and before the wedding age?

The fall runways continue to reinforce my legwear lurve as evidenced by Luisa Beccaria's line above. Which, I might mention, is absolutely gorgeous. I love all fashion (well, I at least respect all fashion), but shows that make me feel like I'm living a dream hold a particularly special place in my cold dead heart. The icy cool colors, soft feminine shapes, luxurious fabrics, sparkly runway, and pops of red lipstick in Luisa Beccaria's line are nothing short of a vintage-themed fantasy.

I got to work this morning to find an RZP email about overalls. I was just telling my boyfriend overalls will come back soon, and this was prior to any spring or fall runway shows or the March issue of Elle. I guess I kind of see it as history and time repeating itself (as it always does). The whole early 90s 90210-inspired style came back, plaid, grunge, bits and pieces of my beloved Clueless look, and so of course, overalls had to return as well. I got my first pair at 10. I loved them best with little white tees. I still have a pair at my parents' house that I can whip out and update for a modernized look. I think maybe cropped or cuffed a little, possibly in a fancier fabric, wedges or little heels, bow blouse and cute hair? Maybe some ribboned bow-type headband with messy hair? When's my next trip home?

Jeffrey Campbell Charlie

As posted a few times before, I love the Jeffrey Campbell Charlie clog. I missed my chance to preorder the black ones on the Singer22 site. I thought I'd have enough time, but waited and missed. Boo! Instead, I preordered the tan (ships in June!). Now, I'm not sure how I feel about the tan, since I think I actually would prefer the natural (above). I think the black is great for winter with tights, but the tan and natural colors would be perfect for summer and spring with bare legs and little dresses. SO, I've purchased both the tan in the Charlie style, and the Beige Wool in the Karl style. They were all that were available! I can't keep both so I'll have to decide when I get them. If there is anyway I could get the natural color, I'd pounce on it!

Leather Lurve

I REALLY wish I had $800-$1500 to throw down on a leather jacket like Rag & Bone's Bowery Leather Jacket above.

A high quality, classic leather jacket has been on my list of wants for a few years now (along with a perfume, a vintage men's watch, the Chanel Jumbo XL, the never-ending search for great basics, and others). It started when I spotted Ashley Olsen in a cute little cropped one, and when Kate Moss's first line for Topshop came out. I still love the Kate Moss one, with the asymmetrical cut and round collar. I've yet to find one as perfect as that one, but the Rag & Bone one comes very close.

I also love this Mike & Chris Dresden version (and several other of their leather jackets). The problem with this one is that aside from it being $825, I saw it on Hautelook for $200 and missed out. I was devastated! Since I knew I could've gotten it for $200, I couldn't get myself to spend 4x the amount.

Oh knee/otk highs. I have loved these ever since I was 10, when the lovely Alicia Silverstone donned several pairs as Cher - along with Stacey Dash and Brittany Murphy (RIP) - in Clueless. Always wanted a pair. At 10, I didn't know how to get my mom to buy me any, so I'd steal her black trouser socks instead. I wanted white knee highs to go with the plaid skirts and baby tees of the time, but my mom's black trouser socks were the best I could do.

Anyway, I'm glad to see my Clueless post a few months ago wasn't totally off. Looking at Fall runways this year reinforces my love and prediction for the 1995 trend. Since my Clueless post, I've stocked up on a black pair and navy pair. I've had several white pairs for years now, but never had the courage to whip them out. My boyfriend says these types of socks look "naughty" to men, which is quite unfortunate since I don't want to look slutty, just stylish.

Well, as I've always said, I dress for me, not for men or anyone else. Is it too early to now wish for fall again? It is and has always been my favorite season.

Love these YSL Imperiale-inspired heels! Got lucky and got the last pair NATIONWIDE in my size last night at The Grove. The right foot actually has a small stain on it, but since they were the last pair, I still got them (with a 10% discount). They also had them in black leather, but I think the suede looks much better. They also have suede soles. Fancy soles always make me feel more expensive and luxe (heh).

The girly girl in me loves Erin Fetherston. Girly and fantasy-inspired, it's a nice escape from my real world of denim and everyday practicality. Her Fall '10 line showcased dresses and well-tailored pants and jackets, but I love Erin Fetherston for her romantic dresses. Some of my favorites above.

The fashion world sure does love the braids from Alexander Wang's SP10 show (and so do I).

It's unfortunate that I just cut my hair a few weeks ago. My pre-cut hair was extremely long and Rapunzel-like. It would've been perfect.

I love coming home to find a fat March issue of Elle on the table. Remember when in middle and high school the March issue of Seventeen would be really thick because of all the prom advertising?

This post ages me.
